Hi! Welcome to Wellbeing Workshop! I’m Kat Benny, a certified early childhood and elementary teacher with over 13 years of experience in classrooms and school communities. I spent 7 years teaching kindergarten and 6 years teaching mindfulness, character education, and social-emotional learning to students in PreK–5 in New Jersey.
I’m also an E-RYT 200, RCYT, RPYT, Reiki Master Teacher, and a Qualified Teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). My work is deeply informed by both professional training and lived experience navigating life’s challenges, which has shown me firsthand the transformative power of mindfulness and its ability to alchemize struggle into strength and resilience.
My approach centers nervous system regulation, honoring individual needs, and remembering not to take life too seriously. I believe learning (and teaching!) thrives in slowness, spaciousness, and playfulness. After transitioning out of the classroom, I now focus on creating supportive, accessible mindfulness resources designed especially for teachers.
All of my lessons include recorded practices so both students and teachers can benefit from a daily pause—without the added pressure of leading the practice themselves. My goal is to support calm, connected classroom environments while helping educators care for their own well-being and prevent burnout.
