About the store
I am in my 22nd year of Elementary Education. While in college, I taught at Child Developement Centers, and worked as a nanny for 5 years. Since earning my Bachelor's degree, I've taught half day and full day kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th/6th Grade Social Studies. I have worked in Christian and public schools, and mostly low-income schools that are Title 1. Kindergarten is where my heart is! In 2011, I earned my M.Ed, which was never something I considered possible. Since then I have retried teaching 2nd grade I I love it just as much as kindergarten now.

In 2011, I earned my M.Ed, which was never something I considered possible. Since then I have retried teaching 2nd grade I I love it just as much as kindergarten now.

Teaching style

My teaching style is still mostly small-group, centered based instruction. My passion in the classroom is Math, Phonemic Awareness and teaching kids how to read. I struggled with comprehension myself, as a student and really work hard to fill that gap for my students.

My own education history

Bachelor of Arts Degree for Early Childhood and Elementary Education from University of Montevallo in 1998. Master's Degree for Elementary Education earned May 2011 from Kennesaw State University.

Additional biographical information

The exciting thing about kindergarten is that many of the kids come with a "blank slate". The growth that many of the kids make is outstandingly obvious because they often go from not knowing any letters to reading and writing simple sentences in 10 months.
