In the three-task assignment, students will use the internet to complete activities exploring sound. Task one is centered around a short YouTube video; task two is based on a Ducksters article, and task three requires the use of the website Flocabulary. (If you don't have a subscription, you can find it on YouTube or Edpuzzle, too.)
Having trouble holding your students accountable for independent reading? Use these monthly from August to April for students to track their reading at home. The boxes give students choice and variety of reading materials. I even sprinkled in some non-traditional reading tasks like "Watch a movie with the captions on." All reading counts, right?! There is a spot for parents/grownups to initial, as well.
This is a great beginning of the getting-to-know-you activities for your students. Students will think about how to describe and introduce themselves to others using only six words. Directions and an example are included.

Other (ELA), Other (Science), Other (Social Studies)
I use this lesson to teach students about having respect for one another, their trusted adults, and for themselves. In this lesson "Suzie" faces everyday hardships that literally tear away at her. Students come away with a hands-on illustration of how our words and actions can hurt others, and it can be hard to repair!
