Who Thought

A unit of work outlining the history and influence of the Sci-Fi genre and the development of a Graphic Novel based on a this theme. Students will explore well known and classic texts and develop their own, or adapted stories related to these well known texts, to create a graphic novel. Artistic processes will be explored in order to compliment their product including photography, illustrations and art processes and ideas.

A fun activity to allow your students to immerse themselves in the characters of their favourite book/s. This project based activity encourages the students to delve in to characters of their choice and to develop some inferences and intentions of the author in the development of characters used in novels and texts.

A severe storm is about to strike your town or city and you just happen to have a local team of experts on hand to assist the townsfolk to prepare for this potential disaster! Students will combine to research different roles in the community and to develop plans of action to save their town/city from this impending storm. It is an INQUIRY BASED task that invites students to become experts in a field and to bring and share their knowledge with others. It is cooperative, interactive and fun!

Using Bloom's Taxonomy of Higher Order Thinking students will explore the theme of Mythical Creatures in thought provoking and creative ways. This choice board encourages both language and mathematical investigations of Mythical Creatures.

Students can choose and challenge themselves by completing activities from the Chance and Data tic-tac-toe board. This is a great resource to use with students who need extension or the freedom of choice within any unit of work that deals with Chance and Data problems.

Using Ryan's Thinker's Keys, students can learn to set goals in creative and thought provoking ways. These activities allow the critical thinker to set goals that are meaningful to them whilst still using higher order thinking skills in order to do so.

Using Higher Order Thinking Skills, students will be able to choose tasks to show their understanding of Micro-Organisms in-line with the Biological Science strands and substrands of the Australian Curriculum.
