These cards are a great way to promote student-led discussions in the classroom. They can be used in a whole group setting, literacy work station, or small group. They are generic and can be used with any story that you are reading and any genre. After reading a passage, pass these out to students and allow them to discuss with groups different aspects of the story.

Students can use these cards to practice creating compound words. The cards can be used several different ways. Students can play "memory match up" with a partner by turning the cards face down and flipping two cards over on their turn. If they create a compound word they have a match. Students can also look at the cards face up and pick out words that would create compound words. These cards can also be used in a teacher-led small group. They can be adapted to meet the needs of all levels.

This is a great way for students to relate polygons to real-world objects. It is also a great work sample to hang in the classroom. Before starting this activity, brainstorm ideas as a whole group of examples of polygons in the world. For instance, a kite is the shape of a rhombus, a football field is in the shape of a rectangle, and a stop sign is the shape of an octagon. You can also do an internet search of some images to post on a projector to spark some ideas for your students.
