Using a real-world, hands-on connection, students gets the chance to play "trashketball" (AKA wastepaper-basketball) to create ratios: shots made to shots attempted. Then, they work to find equivalent ratios to see how many baskets--if consistent--they would make if given more or fewer attempts at the hoop. Gives an opportunity for further discussion and introduction of sports statistics.
