Welcome ya'll! I'm a third year teacher in the great state of Mississippi. I currently teach 5th grade ELA which I did not choose, but rather it chose me. I did not realize how much I LOVE ELA! Experience

Welcome ya'll! I'm a third year teacher in the great state of Mississippi. I currently teach 5th grade ELA which I did not choose, but rather it chose me. I did not realize how much I LOVE ELA! I have always loved quotes and use them daily, in my life and in my classroom. When asked what my favorite color is, I have always responded "anything bright!"

Teaching style

I am not your pencil and paper kind of teacher. I recently moved to a district that has allowed me to use Google Classroom. While I am new to this, I am loving it!! My students love using Google classroom, as well. I believe in the productive struggle and watching the development of my students through this. I enjoy giving my students activities to try by themselves, whether individually, with partners or with groups, and allowing them to explore the content before guiding them through it. I find most students to not have the experiences or background knowledge necessary for the content being taught. By allowing them the exploration before hand, I am providing them with these experiences which I am able to guide them into understanding.

My own education history

I obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Educational Psychology from Mississippi State University (HAIL STATE!!) due to my overwhelming interests in how people learn and think. I started my Master's in this same field when I realized I have a strong desire to learn and share my knowledge with others. I am the PD nut! I absolutely love seeing what other teachers are doing in their classrooms and formulating ideas for my own. I received my Master's of Teaching in Middle Level Education from MSU and started my career without the experience of student teaching or even really being in a classroom other than my own schooling growing up. WOW is the only way to describe my experiences thus far!

Additional biographical information

I love hearing from others on how I can better myself and my teaching! Do not hesitate to offer opinions and insight.
