About the store
Hi, busy teachers! I'm Laura, the teacher behind Write and Read. I create engaging, no-prep and low-prep ELA activities to save you time. I have 17 years of experience teaching in a Title I district in the midwest. I began as a middle school ELA teacher and later transferred to high school English. Through the years, I have taught a variety of different courses and ability levels. The last four years have been spent co-teaching English 9 and 10 with a special education teacher. I'm also a certified k-12 library/media specialist. One day, I would love to transition from classroom teacher to school librarian. It's my dream job!

Teaching style

To keep lessons rigorous and engaging, I incorporate cooperative learning, hands-on activities, real-world connections, and high interest texts.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary English Education and a Master's Degree in Education. In addition, I completed two other graduate programs: Indiana University's Cultural Immersion Project and Purdue University's NWI Writing Project. IU's Cultural Immersion Project included student teaching overseas in a small English village, and Purdue's NWI Writing Project focused on writing instruction across all content areas.

Additional biographical information

I'm a teacher and mama of two little boys. My husband is a middle school history teacher. Together, we live in the Midwest. I'm a true crime junkie, avid reader, and chocolate lover. If you want to connect with me, you can find me on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok @writeandreadteacher.
