Quick sorting activity designed to help students distinguish the difference between a watermelon writing idea vs. a zoomed in and more focused seed idea. Students will also pair up a watermelon idea with a more potent and focused seed to begin distinguishing the difference before diving into their own narratives! PowerPoint or Smart Notebook required!

This four square writing graphic organizer will help students through the beginning stages of writing an opinion piece. It scaffolds the process through OREO; opinion, reason, example, opinion. After completing this graphic organizer, students will have the materials and ideas necessary to write an effective opinion piece with reasons and details to support their thinking. Enjoy the sound effects as your students practice their multiplication skills with factors from 1 to 6 using two six sided dice. Directions included! Read carefully to enjoy all of the sound effects as players take each other on in this interactive and competitive baseball game.

This scoring template can be used to track student's participation, collaboration, and reading behaviors in small group and independent reading settings.

Students create a character from their imagination and then develop a word bank of adjectives to help describe the character. This activity lends itself well to narrative writing or a kickoff for a study of similes. It will aid in creating more word choice and voice in their daily writing activities. Prints on 11" x 17" paper for more space.

Students can use this form to peer evaluate a piece of writing based on your current writing rubrics. They record a score, and then provide evidence from your rubric to give specific feedback to their peers.

This template can be used to track student's reading minutes at home! They can also track if they are reading to self, to someone, or listening to reading!
