Multiplication is the basis for calculations that students perform beyond the early years of their schooling. Often these fundamental skills are assumed and students lose confidence in middle to senior years of schooling. This is evident in topics such as Algebra and Measurement. This booklet covers basic point graphs, the co-ordinate plane with positive values only, through to the cartesian plane with negative and positive values. The point graphs compare points against two quantities displayed on horizontal and vertical axes. The material on the co-ordinate plane gives examples on how to construct a set of axes, and how to use them to plot points given their co-ordinates.

This booklet examines sets of numbers such as factors, multiples, primes and composites. It also looks at decimal numbers, place value and applications of basic operations (+, -, x, ÷) to word problems.
