Teaching style

We believe students learn best through application and inquiry, and believe quality opportunities for this exist in all teaching styles.

My own education history

PBLS's founder, Maggie Hutchinson, first attended college at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine as a chemistry major. Two years in, she transferred to the University of Maine at Orono and switched her major to Civil Engineering. She graduated from the Civil Engineering program and was inducted into the Francis Crowe Honors Society. From there she entered the Masters of Science in Teaching program at the University of Maine, through the RiSE Center. She obtained her masters and has been growing her knowledge wherever she can since.

Additional biographical information

PBLS seeks to support teachers and home educators in their learning efforts. At PBLS we believe application and inquiry are the keys to successful learning. It was started by our Founder, Maggie Hutchinson, after her attempts to find quality tasks for her high school classes, proved fruitless, and she was forced to create her own. She saw a gap in the resources available, particularly for math, and chose to fill the need by establishing PBLS. Since then, she has encountered similar problems when searching for resources to teach her children at home, and has developed resources for multiple subject areas. We hope you find these resources helpful and useful. Please reach out if you have any questions or requests and check out yourpbls.com for more information!
