I am a secondary ESL facilitator in the Curriculum & Instruction department with over 19 years in education. I have taught K-8 PE, 6th-grade math/science, 7th and 8th-grade science, and ESL English. I am a secondary ESL facilitator in the Curriculum & Instruction department with over 19 years in education. I have taught K-8 PE, 6th-grade math/science, 7th and 8th-grade science, and ESL English. I earned my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, further deepening my expertise in effective teaching practices.

Teaching style

I integrate technology to enhance student learning and challenge them to think creatively through hands-on experiences. My teaching style is direct and structured, yet I empower students with choice and active learning opportunities. I use songs to reinforce concepts—students sing them on their way to lunch, during tests, or anytime because they stick! I’m a huge fan of YouTube for its amazing educational songs—huge thanks to those talented creators who bring science to life!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been awarded technology grants, equipping my students with mini-laptops, a document camera, a smartboard, and a slate to enhance learning. I have served on curriculum development teams, represented my campus for STEM initiatives, and mentored fellow educators. Selected for leadership training from a competitive pool of applicants, I take pride in my students' success, consistently achieving top growth and achievement in 8th-grade science on benchmarks and state tests!

My own education history

I hold a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, a master’s in Leadership, and am a certified principal. I also have a BS in Kinesiology and have taught PE, coached, and taught middle school Science and ESL English for grades 6-8. Throughout my career, I have attended numerous conferences, including a week-long gifted program at NASA for Math and Science teachers—an unforgettable experience that deepened my passion for STEM education!
