One week of standards aligned ELA,  no planning required, just print and pass it out.  Longer reading passages help build reading stamina in preparation for testing.  Includes review of the priority standards and supplemental practice in theme,  summarizing,  inferencing,  context clues and word meaning along with  grammar and sentence structure. This resource contains one supplemental enrichment activity that is an extension of the writing prompt.   I try to touch on every domain: Informational

About the store

Experience

This is my 25th year in education. 12 of my years were as an instructional coach where I was able to help teachers align their lessons to the state standards. I love to provide activities that are engaging with relevant and inspiring reading content. I include reading passages that help generate classroom discussions around topics like family, animals and the environment.

Teaching style

My teaching style is making learning challenging for all children. Students thrive on challenging tasks, but those tasks need to be at a challenge level that is not too high and not too low. This is not always easy. My content provides scaffolds throughout like context clues for vocabulary, partner work, graphic organizers and flash cards.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My teaching moments happen every year when I see growth on student test scores. I especially feel proud when I am able to create happy and challenged learners through meaningful content.

My own education history

I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and music performance/theory with a masters in education. I always struggled in school as an English language learner, and much of what I do today is to help students grow and love school.
