Description

**Be sure to check out our 5th (Fifth) Grade Common Core Activities Bundle, which now has over 25 of our Fifth Grade Common Core Math Activities including sorts, puzzles, worksheets, and seasonal activities! (Some product listings are below this product’s description)**

This file aligns with the following Fifth Grade Math Common Core Standard.
-CCSS.Math.Content.5.NBT.B.7—Add, subtract, multiply , and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.

Contents: Included in the file are 25 sets of equivalent adding and subtracting with decimals to the hundredths place.

Instructions: Print out the pieces on cardstock and have them laminated prior to cutting them out. The activity could then be conducted in two different ways:
•Group/Activity Sort Activity- Pass out all the pieces to each individual or group and have them match up the corresponding adding decimals problems to the equivalent subtracting decimals problem. I have found it has worked great to turn it into a competition by giving extra credit or a prize to the individuals that finish first.
•“I Have,Who Has?”-Pass out one piece to each student in the class and have them find the student who has the corresponding piece. I have found this is a great way to get students up and moving around the room. Then have the students switch pieces and conduct the activity again.
