Description

Are you looking for a Spring Craft or an Easter Craft that integrates math and literacy? This M&M Math and Literacy has a Spring or Easter basket for students to assemble along with using the M&Ms for sorting, counting, graphing, analyzing data, addition, subtraction and even a word problem!

★ Basket pattern come in color and blackline.

★ Just cut out, fold in the tabs, and glue or use clear tape. The long rectangular shape is the handle.

★ M&M Poems are included for shared reading after students assemble their baskets. I have made two versions of the poems, one with the word Spring substituted for Easter in case your school does not celebrate holidays.

★ I have also included large clipart in case you want to make your own large chart of the poem, you can glue them onto the cart.

★ For an added touch, put cellophane grass and put M&Ms in each basket. If your school celebrates Easter, you could even have the M&Ms appear just before school...

Directions for Math & Literacy Center Activities with the M&Ms as follows:

Order 32 Fun Size Packages of MandMs (Amazon Link) 32 Individual fun size packages to pass out.

OR Give each student a baggie or paper cup with regular colored

M & Ms If you have a large class, you can ask students to work with a partner.

Students sort and count their M&Ms by colors. They can glue the pieces to the chart below, or place them, and then draw them, so that they can eat them!

There is a graphing activity with follow up questions to analyze the data.

Another page asks students to solve some simple addition problems if they are ready for this kind of work. Otherwise it can be a simple sorting and counting activity.

I have provided a simple sorting map in case you’d like to make the activity a bit easier and not glue or draw the M&Ms onto the chart.

Great activities to use for the Easter season. I'm afraid the M&M activities might be too difficult for my transitional kindergarten students but we will give it a try
