This is an activity that involves the students in matching similies with the proper sentences by using context clues. They will also learn how to expand some similes into better detailed sentences that involve context clues. This activity can be used in small groups, guided reading groups or in literacy centers.

This is a fun way for the children to learn the water cycle. They will follow the steps and string colored beads on a cord to represent each part of the water cycle. The children retain the information so much better with a visual to go with it. And they love making the bracelets as well.

This activity involves reading clues and drawing conclusions based on these clues. The students will study the coupons and follow the clues to make a list of what they need to buy at the grocery store. They will then fill in the items on a list under the correct aisle number. This involves using guide letters to decide which item goes under each aisle.

Figuring out spoonerisms is a funny activity. A spoonerism is when the first sounds of words are switched with each other leaving a funny phrase behind. This lesson has two sheets for the students to complete in which they will correct the spoonerisms. Also there are 2 Shel Silverstein poems that include spoonerism as well. The students will rewrite the poems with the correct phrases.

This is the second activity in my Drawing Conclusions lesson about shopping with coupons. You do not need to have the first lesson in order to do this one. A Super Fun Art Project That Is A Great Activity To Create On School Picture Day I love to do this activity on the actual day of school pictures. The students love the silliness and really get into this art lesson. The students pretend that right before having their pictures taken these horrible (but silly) things happen to them. Through nonsense words and context clues, the students will take part in reading a story about aliens and outer space. They will also fill in a chart based on their best educated guesses, The activity also includes the words on flash cards for multi uses. This is part 1 of the story only.

This super fun hands-on activity incorportates math and technology. The students will complete a variety of math activities and self check their answers using a barcode scanner. The skills covered are: time, money, money word problems, fractions, challenging word problems, base ten blocks, adding and subtracting 2 digit problems with regrouping, adding and subtracting 3 digit problems with regrouping and adding dice with and without regrouping.
