3rd Grade Data: This third grade resource on data includes a PowerPoint on four types of data, a small group project using data, a foldable graphic organizer on data, and a quiz on collecting, organizing, displaying and interpreting data for Third Grade TEKS 3.8A and 3.8B:
This bundle of resources is closely aligned to the Texas Math Standards TEKS 3.8A and 3.8B. The 30 slide PowerPoint presentation introduces word problems related to everyday life. It includes problems with bar graphs, pictographs, dot plots, and frequency tables. Student interact by responding to the “Let’s Practice” slides using a marker board or turning toward their partner to pair and share.
Once students have gained a basic understanding they are ready to participate in a small group project. Each team will have a task to collect, organize, display, and interpret data from the classroom environment. They will create and present two different graphs to represent their findings. Team members will also write 5 thought provoking questions for their classmates to answer regarding their graph or table.
A foldable graphic organizer is included for the math notebook to review the four types of data.
Now students are ready to take the 20 question quiz which includes a variety of word problems.
