Description

7th Grade Math – Percent Increase and Decrease

This lesson teaches students how to use proportional relationships to solve multi-step ratio and percent problems. The focus of the percent problems will be real world application of percent change either as an increase or decrease. Students will learn the formula for calculating the percent change of two quantities from an original amount to a new amount. This is an individual lesson from our Ratios and Proportions Unit and part of our 7th Grade Year Long Curriculum.

Students will practice solving these types of problems in various contexts and activities until mastery. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use percents to describe the change of increases and decreases of quantities.
