Description

I developed this resource to help facilitate students' understanding of writing the Argument Essay on the AP Language Exam. This guide walks students through each of the thinking steps from identifying the argument within the prompt and developing an idea-based position to developing counter-arguments, a thesis statement, strong topic sentences, and reasoning/commentary. This one-pager includes links to "Argument Generator" stems and a Line of Reasoning cheat sheet/visual. My students appreciate this resource as it provides a one-page view of the essay steps to practice and to help internalize the thinking process behind the writing of this essay. The preview in this listing is a watermarked screenshot of the Google Doc.

This resource does a great job of outlining what should be present (and what actions should be taken) to write a successful argumentative essay.
