Who says you can't play with your food? Practice addition skills with 3 or more addends with this fun hands on BBQ themed math station activity. One of the best ways to get 1st graders excited about learning is through purposeful play, and this Adding 3 Numbers math center is no exception! Easily differentiate to meet your needs by changing the numbers used, and how many addends students combine.

I love having my kids play "restaurant" while practicing first grade addition skills and even store materials in an empty hamburger bun bag. Students work to build "burgers" by adding 3 numbered food items (lettuce, cheese, burger, tomato, buns, and pickles) together. After they build their burgers, they can write the 3 addends on the recording sheet and add to find the sums.
