Description

Are you looking for an engaging math center where students can practice writing repeated addition sentences for arrays? This hands-on math center resource is for you! You will download 20 array task cards and a student answer log sheet where they will be asked to write the repeated addition sentence for each array. Students will practice writing an addition equation for each array to show the total (whole) as a sum of equal addends (parts). This is also a great opportunity for students to practice identifying columns and rows.

These task cards work great in centers and math stations for independent student use. These cards would also work great as a warm up or do now activity. You can pass a card out to each student at the beginning of math, have each student practice writing the repeated addition sentence for their array, and then either collect their work or have students turn and talk to check their work with a partner. This could similarly work as an exit ticket and be a great tool for formative assessment.

It's a good idea to laminate the student answer log sheets, as well as the task cards, for multiple use.

This was a great to do whole group as a scoot activity. I was then able to move it to my independent math stations to complete as task cards. It was easy to differentiate for the students who were ready to show repeated addition and multiplication. The students loved it!
