Description
A bundle of non-fiction reading passages for grades 5-8 about all six of the world’s land biomes: The tundra, taiga (boreal forest), temperate forests, grasslands, deserts, and rainforests. Each set of reading passages is also available individually. Click on the pictures to the left to see additional details about each of them. Take a look at the preview for this bundle to see an explanation and additional details about the elements that are common to all of the biome reading passage products.
The elements common to each individual product include:
Reading passages about the biome, including the important information about temperature, precipitation, and other environmental conditions that define the biome.
A mapping activity in which students use a world atlas (not included) to color the areas where the biome is location on a (provided) world map.
A reading passage about an iconic animal of the biome. The animals are: Bear (Taiga), Wolf (Temperate Forest) Reindeer and Caribou (Tundra), Camel (Desert), Giraffe (Grassland) and Monkeys and Apes (Rainforest).
Two sets of questions: one for the reading passage about the biome, and one for the reading passage about the representative animal of that biome.
A color by number picture answer sheet which can be used with either the biome questions or the animal questions.
