This ZIP file includes everything you need to introduce and teach the idea of characters, character traits and characterization to your students. Main and Minor characters, Character traits, Characterization, Direct, Indirect, and 6 methods of indirect characterization are explained in the 45 slide power point. Definitions are given as well as examples of each different method.
3 versions of an exit slip are included that can be used to formatively assess your students to determine if they mastered the information that was presented.
After the lesson, students can get practice with characterization with the sorting cards that are included. Students get practice with 25 different examples of characterization that are sorted into direct or indirect characterization. Indirect examples are then sorted into one of the six different methods of indirect characterization. This can be done during small group instruction, partner work, or group work.
ELEVEN different graphic organizers are also included that can be used as practice with any text. There are enough graphic organizers to keep your students engaged and excited. The graphic organizers are at different levels so they can be used throughout the year as students progress and need more rigorous practice or to differentiate instruction.
Two of the organizers that ARE included are also sold separately at $1.25 each. So, the materials you are receiving in this bundle are a STEAL!
The organizes are completely aligned to Common Core and work towards helping your students master standard RL.3, as well as RL.1 when students make inferences about a character and cite texual evidence to support their answers.
FIVE of the graphic organizers also include a WRITING component. This allows students an opportunity to use the evidence they've gathered on the organizers to write a response to a text!
Also included are 21 different questions cards that can be used with any text. The questions are differentiated to meet the needs of any student.

Good resources for characterization to help students when they are working on their own.
Thanks
Great resource to help students practice identifying character traits in a text.
I appreciated the variety of ways to approach this subject.
Super easy to use and helpful!
These were great activites!
This resource has many options to use with my class. It really worked well for distance learning.
This resource is colorful and thorough. My one complaint is that the description states that it contains a PowerPoint presentation; however, the "presentation" is a PDF instead of a PowerPoint. I purchased the resource mainly for the presentation.
