Description

A set of 6 worksheets and a quiz on comparing fractions, designed for fourth grade level. This set is aimed at students who need more experience with drawing models of fractions and understanding visual comparison of two or three fractions, in preparation for working with fraction equivalence to compare.

Can be used in tutoring or as a resource with specific students who need more focused practice on the concept. May be used to quickly review concept or help student re-learn it. I recommend using different pages on different days so the student has to move information in and out of memory more.

I created this to use with my tutoring students; if they're having difficulty with visually comparing fractions, these worksheets always give them the practice they need to become successful with the concept!

Also available:

Comparing Fractions for second grade

Comparing Fractions for third grade

Comparing Fractions for fifth grade

Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
