Comparing and Ordering Rational Numbers – The Number System

Students will learn how to compare and order rational numbers using a couple of different strategies:

➯ Finding Common Denominators and Least Common Denominators

➯ Using Number Lines

➯ Review the skill of converting fractions to decimals

The essential understanding of the lesson is to compare rational numbers.

  1. Rewrite all of the rational numbers so they are in the same form, either as decimals or fractions
  2. Order from least to greatest using a number line
  3. Rewrite numbers
