Comparing and Ordering Rational Numbers – The Number System
Students will learn how to compare and order rational numbers using a couple of different strategies:
➯ Finding Common Denominators and Least Common Denominators
➯ Using Number Lines
➯ Review the skill of converting fractions to decimals
The essential understanding of the lesson is to compare rational numbers.
- Rewrite all of the rational numbers so they are in the same form, either as decimals or fractions
- Order from least to greatest using a number line
- Rewrite numbers
