Description

Ready to teach students how to solve Comparing story problems? Working on solving "how many more" and "how many fewer" using subtraction? Helping little learners to understand and solve word problems where they need to compare the difference between two sets of objects can be tricky! This pack has both teaching slides and practice pages to make your job easier!

This pack has 27 teaching slides to help kids visualize what is happening when they find out how many more objects are in one group than another. For example: I have 6 blue pencils and 4 green pencils. How many more blue pencils do I have than green pencils? The first lesson introduces comparing two sets of objects and finding out "how many more?". The second lesson introduces finding out "how many fewer?".

These No Prep lessons are ready to display digitally for the whole class on a big screen, or on a tablet in your small guided math groups.

Along with the lesson slides you get 20 practice pages, 10 for each lesson. The pages make a half size booklet and print 2 sheets per page. The word problems are all written in simple language, making them easier to read. Each page uses the same format, so kids are familiar with how to show their thinking. A cute booklet cover is included.

Want to save on photocopying? A Math Journal format is included. Simply cut apart the the word problem strips. Kids can cut and paste the strip in their Math Journals and use the space on the page to show their thinking.
