Over 250 TASK CARDS! I've combined 7 of my products to create this task cards bundle that focuses on identifying complete sentences, combining sentences using conjunctions, and where to place commas in compound and complex sentences.

Run-On Sentences Task Cards

-12 task cards ask students to identify if the sentence is a complete sentence or a run-on.

-12 task cards ask students to revise the run-on sentences.

***Note- some of these task cards have correct simple sentences

Adding FANBOYS and Commas to Compound Sentences Task Cards

40 task cards about compound sentences including selecting the best coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) and comma placement.

-The first 12 cards are multiple choice cards asking students to select the best coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) for the compound sentence.

-The next 12 cards are multiple choice cards asking students if the sentence needs a comma. If it needs a comma, it asks students where it should be inserted.

***Note- some of these sentences are not compound sentences and will not need commas.

-The last 16 task cards are challenge cards. They have sentences used in the previous cards; however, they are not multiple choice. These cards have two sentences, and students are asked to combine the two sentences. Answers will vary on this section.

Combining Sentences with Conjunctions (FANBOYS) Task Cards

-Set 1- 32 multiple choice task cards asking students for the best way to combine two sentences using a coordinating conjunction

-Set 2- the same 32 sentences, but without the multiple choice option to make the cards more challenging

Compound Sentences All About Dogs Task Cards

-Set 1- 20 multiple choice task cards asking students to determine the best way to combine sentences using coordinating conjunctions.

***Note- Some cards include answer choices with run-on sentences, missing commas, and/or extra commas and 2 cards only have compound predicates, so they do not need a comma.

-Set 2- the same 20 sentences, but without the multiple choice option to make the cards more challenging

Complex Sentences Task Cards

-Set 1- Independent clause- 12 cards with the subordinate clause. Students are asked to complete the sentence by writing an independent clause.

-Set 2- Subordinate clause at the BEGINNING of the sentence (comma needed)- 12 cards asking students to complete the subordinate clause at the beginning of the sentence. The independent clause is already written.

-Set 3- Subordinate clause at the END of the sentence (NO comma needed)- This set has the same sentences as the task cards in set 2; however these 12 cards ask students to complete the subordinate clause at the end of the sentence.

-Set 4- Commas in complex sentences- 12 multiple choice task cards asking students if the sentence needs a comma. If a comma is needed, students are asked where to insert the comma. This section includes a recording sheet and answer key.

Task cards are one of my go-to resources to use with my students because it allows them to get up and move. They also give a good opportunity for differentiation. This is a good bundle!

I love using task cards with my students in Year 7. This is one of our main grammar teaching points in Semester 1 and these are both great for revision or earlier in the learning phase. The kids like using task cards and find laminating them, cutting them up and handing them to kids very satisfying. I believe the kids approach the work with more positivity. Thank you for giving me back some time; I appreciate your hard work.
