Spring is the perfect time to develop phonemic awareness and practice counting syllables with your emergent readers. Included in this Spring Counting Syllables Set, you will find bright and cheerful spring-themed picture task cards, recording sheets, and header cards. Each picture card contains 1-5 syllables. Use the materials in this resource to play a spring SCOOT game, or set up a Syllables Sorting Literacy Center using a pocket chart. These activities can be used in multiple ways and will make it fun and easy to practice counting syllables with your kindergarten and first grade students!

⭐️ Counting Syllables Spring Scoot Game Kindergarten & 1st Grade Sorting Center Includes:
►40 Spring Themed Task cards (in both color and B&W)
►5 Header Cards for sorting picture cards in a pocket chart (in both color and B&W)
►Recording Sheet for Student Accountability
►Answer Key
⭐️ TO PREPARE AND PLAY SCOOT:
►Decide if you will print in color or B&W.
►If you choose B&W. you might consider printing it on Astrobright cardstock for a pop of color.
►Cut, laminate, and copy the recording sheet for each student.
►Spread the cards around the perimeter of your classroom.
►Arm each student with a recording sheet, clipboard if you like, and pencil and they are ready.
►Have students begin rotating around the room at a decided upon interval. They circle the number of syllables in the word in a space that has been marked with the notated number on the card.
⭐️ TO USE AS A LITERACY CENTER:
►Put the cards in a basket at your designated location.
►Print a pile of the recording sheets for your students.
►Students can mark the identifying letter for each card they choose on the recording sheet, and circle the correct number of syllables that word has.
