In this engaging and comprehensive DNA Replication unit, students will explore, analyze, and apply their understanding of how cells accurately copy their genetic information to ensure life’s continuity.

The 8-day unit is designed to be rigorous, interactive, and standards-aligned, helping students master core molecular biology concepts through hands-on, inquiry-based learning that brings the dynamic process of DNA replication to life.

Through a variety of instructional strategies—including guided notes, graphic organizers, stations, and reading comprehension—students will investigate the roles of key enzymes, the stages of replication, and the molecular mechanisms that maintain genetic stability across generations.

This DNA replication reading comprehension teaches your students about DNA replication, enzymes involved in replication, the semiconservative model and the antiparallel nature of DNA. After this activity, students will be able to describe the process of DNA replication and how various enzymes and proteins work together to construct new strands of DNA.
