Describing Igneous Rocks Bundle
This bundle contains my Describing Igneous Rocks PowerPoint presentation and worksheet:
Describing Igneous Rocks Worksheet
Describing Igneous Rocks PowerPoint
Students review how igneous rocks form and the differences between extrusive and intrusive igneous rocks. The PowerPoint includes the notes that go with the first page of the worksheet, instructions for a rock identification activity, and photos of rock samples used in the activity. The photos are great if you don't have access to a diverse set of rocks, and/or to go over the activity as a class.
Students use the data chart on the worksheet to collect data about 6 samples of igneous rocks, determine if they’re extrusive or intrusive, and give evidence to support their answer. The last page of the worksheet is comprised of conclusion questions to connect their data to the information they’ve learned about igneous rocks. Students love getting hands-on experience with the rocks and being “Rock Detectives”!
Due to clip art copyright, the images on the presentation cannot be moved or edited, but the text is editable.
