Description

This garden design product includes everything students need in order to complete an engaging and meaningful project based learning math task utilizing multiplication and addition including: pictures of this resource in action, a price sheet with various garden items, a table / graphic organizer to track budget and spending, and a page to draw out the garden.

I utilized this resource in my Gifted and Talented pull-out enrichment program, but it can easily be used as enrichment / extension in the regular classroom, or a whole-class math activity during a unit on addition or multiplication!

This is a great addition to the Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP) unit "How Does Your Garden Grow?".

Students enjoyed this activity. It lasted several days. We added in perimeter and area by setting dimensions for the garden and different items that were purchased. Students then designed the garden using graph paper. Thanks!

I used this with a 2E homeschool student. I modified it also add elements of perimeter and area and provided a sheet of graph paper so that he could better plan out the garden. This was a highly engaging project and easily modified.

Perfect for my fifth grader as we learned about plants and garden planning. I also used this in combination with measuring the perimeter and area of our garden spaces to make it a bit more challenging.
