Description

Choose from a variety of resources to share a fun science activity. Students need an index card, 6 paper clips, and a pencil.

Do you need your resources to be available online?

  • Import the Word™ documents into your online classroom. Edit the documents to customize them.
  • Import the activity video, audio and video recordings, and PowerPoint™ resource to share.

Do you need to create a work packet to send home?

  • Print the independent work packet that includes: the How To worksheet, a short text, recording sheets for drawing and answering essay questions!

Are you concerned about students understanding the text?

  • We created videos for the two How To guides, the essay question English worksheet, and both the English and Spanish short texts are highlighted as they text is read.

What if students don’t have all the supplies?

  • Watch a short video showing the activity only or use images from a PowerPoint to show ways to balance the card.

Examples of answers for the essay questions and drawing recording worksheet are included.

A web page created just for this activity has resources that are kid friendly, easy to read, often with activity videos, and few if any distracting ads.

It's difficult to suggest a duration as it depends on the options you choose. If you choose all four options, this could be four science sessions or more!

I have dozens of products you might consider for distance learning and force.

NGSS3-PS2-1
Plan and conduct an investigation to provide evidence of the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces on the motion of an object. Examples could include an unbalanced force on one side of a ball can make it start moving; and, balanced forces pushing on a box from both sides will not produce any motion at all. Assessment is limited to one variable at a time: number, size, or direction of forces. Assessment does not include quantitative force size, only qualitative and relative. Assessment is limited to gravity being addressed as a force that pulls objects down.
