Description

Simple materials make this a fun activity to try in the classroom or at home. I've given you many resources to make it easy to tailor activities for your students.

Do you need your resources to be available online?

  • Import the Word™ documents into your online classroom. Edit the documents to customize them.
  • Import the activity video, audio and video recordings, and PowerPoint™ resource to share.

Do you need to create a work packet to send home?

  • Print the independent work packet that includes: the How To worksheet (there are three different versions), a short text, and essay questions!

Are you concerned about students understanding the text?

  • We created videos for the three How To guides – students read the highlighted text as it is read to them and both the English and Spanish short texts are highlighted as the text is read.

What if students don’t have all the supplies?

  • Watch a short video showing the activity only or use images from a PowerPoint to show ways to get a penny in a jar without touching the peny.

It's difficult to suggest a duration as it depends on the options you choose. If you choose all four options, this could be four science sessions or more!

I have dozens of products you might consider for distance learning and force.

*This product was reformatted from Balanced and Unbalanced Forces and additional resources added to make it ideal as an independent activity or distance learning. I combined Balance a Card, Penny on a Loop, and Test Your Balance into a ♥ bundle♥ of all three products to save you $$!

I took my very popular Balanced and Unbalanced Forces product apart and put it back together with worksheets that guide students as they try fun physics activities. I included videos that highlight text as I read it to make it easier for students who need to hear the information. I took my three opt

NGSS3-PS2-1
Plan and conduct an investigation to provide evidence of the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces on the motion of an object. Examples could include an unbalanced force on one side of a ball can make it start moving; and, balanced forces pushing on a box from both sides will not produce any motion at all. Assessment is limited to one variable at a time: number, size, or direction of forces. Assessment does not include quantitative force size, only qualitative and relative. Assessment is limited to gravity being addressed as a force that pulls objects down.
