Frog Subtraction Spring Math Craft

We did this activity in several sections since there are several pieces to it. I then had them work together as a table to come up with the correct answers. Before we started, we looked up a version online of the song "5 green and speckled frogs." Then we talked about how that was a real world example of subtraction; the frogs jumping off the log into the water. So then we went back to our desks and used dice to come up with our own equations. They represented their equation by showing how many frogs jumped into the water and how many frogs were left on the log. It was so fun and engaging and they all loved it. It challenged them in many different ways, but it was a great activity to help push them to think a little deeper and focus a little more on their work. So fun!
