For example, applying the distributive property to the expression 3(2h – p) + 2(h + 3p) to produce the equivalent simplified expression. Each answer occurs twice, once with a number and once with a color. The matching color can then be used to color the picture in a fun color by number activity.

- Using the distributive property with algebraic expressions.
- Combining like terms.
- Simplifying algebraic expressions.
- Adding and subtracting the terms of linear expressions.
- Identifying when two expressions are equivalent by simplifying.
- Adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers.

Students can cut out their completed pictures and use them to glue onto greeting cards. Or use them to make a classroom display.
