Functions Week: The Most Terrifying Unit from Algebra I

The "Functions Week" unit uses the theme of TV's "Shark Week" to introduce functions to Algebra students. Moving from real-world scenarios to numbers, students discuss and define functions in their own words, learn to use a variety of representations, and develop the vertical line test. This unit is fun and interactive and super helpful in my classroom! Students are able to grapple with some tough mathematical concepts in an exciting way, and they LOVE it!

Materials: I print the powerpoint slides for my students and have them fill in the blanks as we go.
