With this guide, students will explore the transformations of functions with Desmos! They will be prompted to create and compare the parent function to transformations across the coordinate plane. Parents functions that are included are linear, quadratic, cubic, absolute value, rational, and square root.
Not knowing multiplication facts does not have to hinder your students in learning factoring! With this simple tool, you can test their knowledge of the Algebraic concept while exposing them more to missed prior knowledge. This chart includes all positive integers 1-100. A word document that is colorful and easy to use and also editable to your needs.
Functions Week: The Most Terrifying Unit from Algebra I The "Functions Week" unit uses the theme of TV's "Shark Week" to introduce functions to Algebra students. Moving from real-world scenarios to numbers, students discuss and define functions in their own words, learn to use a variety of representations, and develop the vertical line test. This unit is fun and interactive and super helpful in my classroom! Students are able to grapple with some tough mathematical concepts in an exciting way, a

This lesson introduces rational and irrational numbers as well as allows for discussion around combining rational and rational, rational and irrational, etc.
This lesson shows the flaws in using PEMDAS for order of operations. Start the lesson by having students solve viral math problems pulled from Facebook. Students will inevitably get different answers as they misapply/misremember order of operations. Discuss where PEMDAS breaks down (ie seeming that multiplication and division happen on different steps, parentheses is the only form of grouping, etc). Introduce GEMA (Grouping, Exponents, Multiplication & Division, Addition & Subtraction). Show
