Description
Ontario math teachers save time AND improve student learning using our Ontario math units! Students will learn about growing and shrinking patterns, pattern rules, expressions, general term, tables, graphs, and equations. This COMPLETE Patterning math unit includes detailed math lessons, activities, assessments, Ontario report card comments, and more.
The activities require students to use and develop their Knowledge, Application, Thinking, and Communication skills in a way that will prepare them for success in grade 9.
Please Note: The updated expectations for Patterning are VERY similar. The newest lessons and resources are IDENTICAL for grades 7 and 8. The previous versions are not identical and are still available as part of this package.
This unit is part of our ENTIRE YEAR OF ONTARIO MATH PACKAGE which includes all of our math resources for Grade 8.

The newest version is Google Slides. I project these in my classroom for students to see. It reduces photocopies and makes life much easier because the setup is done in advance.
We have created lessons that correspond to each of the expectations of the Ontario math curriculum. All lessons follow a 3-part format including expectations, learning goals, examples, minds-on activities, action activities, extension/discussion activities, and consolidation activities. In some instances, there are two lessons to cover an expectation because of the depth and/or difficulty. I would suggest you move on at a pace appropriate for your students.

Digital Classroom Slides (2021 Update)
We have created a copy of the lessons that can be shared in your Digital Classroom. The slides are the same but the Teacher's Notes and Answers have been removed.

Upon request, we created a math workbook that addresses each expectation of the curriculum. Teachers can print the sheets for their students or share them directly in their digital classroom.
2022 Update: We've created a self-checking version of the workbook using Easel.
STATIONS (CENTRES)
Give your students to work on the material in a different way. I use this as an opportunity to spend some time with GUIDED GROUPS (Questions included) for the first half of the period and monitor/assess during the second half of the period. If you have a challenging class, this can a difficult routine to establish, but well worth the effort!

STUDY GUIDE and UNIT TEST (with answer keys). I give the students the STUDY GUIDE at the beginning of the unit and have them meet with me periodically before the test to ensure they understand the material

These have proven to be great activities for content review and developing teamwork within my class
