STORY:
Much of my research in college was based on the real value in teaching kids to play with words. I was particularly fascinated by the derivational relations stage where students have to learn real patters within the words we use and apply what they know about word parts to decode far more advanced vocabulary. Plus, I just love words. My students are very used to me throwing a “big word” into a conversation and then having to discover what it means. When they realize they have the power to understand fancy adult words, they continue to show a love for learning.

POSSIBLE EXTENSIONS:
Use these words in your everyday life! Give bonus points to people who effectively use the new vocabulary in a sentence or maybe require students to use 3 vocabulary words in their daily writing. The whole point is to get students comfortable with expanding their vocabulary.

MATERIALS/PRE-REQS:
Besides this file, you may require:
         ☆Zip bags or Envelopes
         ☆Pocket Chart
         ☆Lamination Abilities
