Description
7th grade math note-taking is more engaging with the math doodle wheel format! Students love the math wheels for taking notes and practicing concepts like inequalities, combining like terms, integer operations, probability, angles, circles, and more!
What is a math wheel? It's a versatile, note-taking tool you can use for whole class or small group instruction, review, test prep, centers, intervention, and more.
On the math wheel organizers, students:
- Take notes inside the math wheel
- Use color, drawing, and doodling to help create memory triggers
- Complete practice problems in the pattern around the wheel, and
- Color the background pattern, if desired
Students can keep the math wheels in their interactive notebooks all year as a personal anchor chart/reference sheet.
- You can even enlarge the math wheels and use them as posters or anchor charts!
This 7th grade math wheel bundle covers 12 topics. Each math wheel file includes:
1) Math wheel with sections for each step or definition, depending on the topic
- There are 3 different versions of each student wheel: 'open' notes, 'fill-in' notes, and 'pre-filled' notes.
- Each version comes with a patterned background and no pattern in the background.
2) Key with answers & suggested notes
3) Colored sample
4) PowerPoint file editable wheel templates, so you can create your own wheels for any topic (for classroom use only).
This bundle has 12 math wheels for 7th grade math notes and practice, addressing the following topics:
- Angles and Angle Relationships
- Circles
- Constant of Proportionality
- Combining Like Terms
- Compound Events
- Integer Operations
- Multi-step equations
- Percent Problems (discount, tax, tips)
- Probability
- Solving 2-Step Inequalities
- Unit Rates with Fractions
- Volume
Features of these easy-to-use 7th grade math resources:
- Notes sections and examples
- Guided practice or individual practice in the pattern around the circle
- Coloring/doodling opportunity: students can color the background pattern, as well as the headings and doodle arrows, making the concepts a bit more memorable
Coloring the background, if you use the patterned versions:
- Students don’t HAVE to color at all during instructional time….coloring the background could be an ‘early finisher’ activity, center activity, homework, etc.
- Students don’t need to color every section of the background – part of their coloring pattern could be to leave sections white.
- Students could color sections with patterns instead of solids – maybe polka dots in one section and squiggly lines in another.
- This coloring part is just a chance to be creative and enjoy the stress-relief coloring can provide.
