Description
Help students understand the three variables in elapsed time: missing start time, missing stop time, and time that's passed. This helps students understand how to tackle elapsed time word problems.
First, students practice figuring out how many hours have passed using a number line. In the first section the concept of counting from 12 back to 1 is practiced.
Each section ends with word problem practice and an optional early finishers slide.
The second section has students practice solving problems with the start time and elapsed time give and the stop time missing.
The third section gives students the opportunity to practice problems where the start time is missing.
This resource focuses on hours for elapsed time.
A Google Quiz is provided that can be used as a pre and post assessment.
The download contains a link to the student resource and a link to the Teacher's Manual.
At the end of each strategy there is an optional slide with links to online games and a YouTube video related to elapsed time. Those slides are great for early finishers.
Be sure to take a look at the preview.
Instructions are included for use in Microsoft One Drive.
