Linear Functions: Writing Linear Equations from Table Models with Worked Out Solutions

TPT buyers said, "Love it!" "This is really helpful to me for reteaching a concept that some kids really bump up against in terms of developmental readiness. Thanks!", "I really loved the variety of tables that were given in this resource. My students struggle with writing an equation from a table when the y-intercept is not one of the given ordered pairs. We did a lot of interactive learning with this resource, so thank you!"

Are you having difficulty finding table models of linear functions for your students to practice writing linear equations? Linear Functions: Writing Equations from Table Models with Worked Out Solutions is just what you need. I included worked out solutions so there is not prep for you!

Your students will use the x and y values in the tables to find the slope, y- intercepts, and to write the equation of the line in slope-intercept form. This practice will help them become proficient at writing equations for linear functions from table models.

Just what I needed! It is so hard to find enough tables for my students to use to write linear functions in the slope-intercept form of the equations. Thank you for making it so easy for me!

Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions). For example, given a linear function represented by a table of values and a linear function represented by an algebraic expression, determine which function has the greater rate of change.
Interpret the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 + 𝘣 as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear. For example, the function 𝘈 = 𝑠² giving the area of a square as a function of its side length is not linear because its graph contains the points (1,1), (2,4) and (3,9), which are not on a straight line.
