Description

These worksheets can be given to the students as a booklet or as individual worksheets. They can be used as an instructional tool, in a small group lesson, in a literacy center, as a review, given as homework, or in any other way you see fit.

Two concepts are being practiced in each worksheet - the date and working with high frequency words. The student works on the date by coloring in the day of the week and writes the date (the number) and the last two digits of the year. After that, and more importantly, the student practices writing high frequency word combinations starting with tracing them twice. However, the second time the student is asked to trace the 3-high-frequency-word combination, he/she is also asked to complete the sentence to the best of their ability. Creativity is encouraged.

The first page of this packet can be used as a tracking sheet for the students to monitor their work in this workbook.

The absence of distracting graphics such as borders and other decorations are a purposeful design choice to prevent pulling focus away from the learning and task at hand.
