Description

This 'math about me' doodle wheel is a great getting to know you math activity to help you learn about your students.

  • This fun wheel activity is excellent for back to school or when you're starting a new semester. The wheels makes a great bulletin board for back to school/parent night!

The sections of the Meet the Mathematician Wheel include:

1) Who are you?

2) Hobbies

3) Favorite Math Topic

4) Birth place

5) Math Skill to improve

6) Favorite Food

This resource (updated June, 2025) is a zip file that includes:

1) PDF with:

  • Original student wheel
  • Two new versions of the student wheel, with minor differences (see preview)
  • Two wheel versions without the section headings in case you’d like to have students write in headings, or use different headings in different classes.
  • Colored sample of wheel
  • Bulletin board letters

2) PowerPoint file with:

  • Editable version of wheel with no headings - you can add headings/text to this version
  • Editable wheel template to create your own wheel for other activities or topics (classroom use only).

Features of this easy-to-use 'math about me' resource:

  • Sections for students to add phrases, draw pictures about themselves, add designs if they want
  • In the pattern around the wheel are 8 items for students to answer.
    • All are number answers, so you can ask students to write their answers as expressions that equal their number answer (or just write the numbers themselves). My examples have the numbers written as expressions.
  • Coloring/doodling opportunity: students can color the background pattern, as well as the headings and doodle arrows
