Try out this set of posters for a strategy that integrates reading strategies with effective addition and subtraction math word problem strategies using Read, Draw, Write (RDW) for primary students to support addition and subtraction word problems.
This resource is designed to help primary students to understand the steps to solving addition and subtraction math word problems and how to effectively use the Read, Draw, Write strategy. Read, Draw, Write is a word problem-solving strategy suggested in the Engage NY math modules, as well as in Eureka Math.
This ready-to-print, steps to problem-solving posters reflect the Read, Draw, Write strategy, some student suggestions, along with, some of my own thinking about problem-solving. Use of reading comprehension strategies and math processes are reinforced.
This printable math word problem solving resource contains:
✅8.5 x 11 poster files for Read, Draw, Write (RDW)
✅Checklists to track student progress with problem solving
✅Four sample word problems in a Read, Draw, Write (RDW) organizer
✅Editable Read, Draw, Write (RDW) organizer to add your own math word problems
✅Read, Draw, Write blank organizer to use with any word problems
In a separate file
✅11 x 17 bulletin board size poster files for enlarged printing

❤️ Use student checklists with small groups, in math notebooks or at desks to celebrate student successes and create goals for growth
