Are you looking for an engaging way to teach measurement? This interactive notebook product is designed to be a reference tool as well as practice/application for key measurement concepts. This unit contains 8 lessons. Each lesson comes with an information page (Learning Side) and several activities to practice the lesson objective (Thinking Side). If you don't use this format, you can use the information pages as teaching tools and use the practice activities in the student notebooks.
THIS PRODUCT INCLUDES
* Detailed directions for notebook set up and implementation
* 6 Different Options for the Table of Contents for student notebooks
* An informational page and application activities for each of the following lessons:
--- Measuring Tools
--- Measuring Length
--- Inches & Centimeters
--- Feet, Yards & Meters
--- Perimeter
--- Area
--- Capacity
--- Weight
While there is some cutting, folding, and gluing of foldable activities, this unit focuses on interacting with and applying the content at a high level. In this pack, I've included some of the videos and other resources I used to help me teach the unit. I have used this unit in my class and saw amazing success! I have never had a class be able to accurately estimate and measure lengths, as well as fully grasp concepts of capacity and weight!
NOTE FOR PRINTING
This product was designed to be used with a regular spiral notebook. Since this is a measurement unit, accuracy is extremely important. This file was designed to be printed “as is.” If you choose “fit to page” or shrink to fit for a composition notebook, the measurements won’t be exact.
MATERIALS NEEDED
rulers, tape measures, yard sticks, meter sticks, food scale or another small scale
MATERIALS SUGGESTED
capacity containers, pan balance, bath scale
