Non Standard Measurement Math Centers
Are you wanting to start math centers in your class but don't know where to begin? This resource is for you! Ready to print and play, this four week math unit on measurement is easy to use and your students will love it.
Outcomes are specific to the Alberta Curriculum; however, could be easily adapted to meet your measurement unit standards.
There are 5 center activities to be completed each week that meet each outcome in this unit. Activities include interactive notebooks, games, and more!!! Each week the centers are the same format.
• C-Computers
• A-Alone
• M-Manipulatives
• P-Partner
• P-Problem Solve
In this resource I provide everything you need: Unit plan, Bulletin board, Word Wall , storage ideas, how to set up the activities in your classroom, explanations for each activity as well as the printables you will need for each activity.
WEEK 1- Make statements of comparison, ordering by comparing length
• Computer: how tall
• Alone: Test and order the length
• Manipulatives: How many cubes long is it?
• Partner: Length compare game
• Problem Solve: Compare the pathway
WEEK 2-Make statements of comparison, ordering by comparing mass
• Computer: balance scales
• Alone: Test and order the mass
• Manipulatives: How many cubes heavy is it?
• Partner: Mass compare game
• Problem Solve: Which bag can I lift?
WEEK 3-Make statements of comparison, ordering by filling
• Computer: capacity comparison
• Alone: Test and order the capacity
• Manipulatives: How many cubes can it hold?
• Partner: Capacity compare game
• Problem Solve: Which cup should I drink from?
WEEK 4-Make statements of comparison, ordering by covering
• Computer: Geoboard area compare
• Alone: Test and order the area
• Manipulatives: How many post it notes cover it?
• Partner: Area compare game
• Problem Solve: Which shape covers the most area?

Really great resource that I used with my first graders. Recommend.
