Description
These task cards can be used as an independent center, or as a scoot activity. Students can spend 3-4 minutes on one card and when you say "scoot" they move to the next card. The cards can either be placed on student desks, or around the room.
The word problems in this set were created using real world facts about pineapples, turtles, surfing, and ukuleles.
(There is one random problem about George... you can tell your students that there is a problem for them to look out for that doesn't seem to belong. You can make it a game to see how many students identified the random problem at the end.)
The problems in this set involving multiplying numbers up to 4-digits by 1-digit numbers, and multiplying 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers. There are a couple of challenge questions that involve larger numbers. These can be used to assess whether students really understand place value and multiplying large numbers - you can use that data to determine who requires additional support and which students may be ready for a challenge.
