Description
These Math Talks will help young learners to build mental math strategies to count objects. Students will view a picture model and determine how many objects they see. These teaching slides are a great tool to help young learners to visualize numbers and develop an understanding of patterns. These picture models focus on 2 digit numbers. These Number Talks are a great way to build understanding and thoughtful math conversations in your primary classroom.
This pack has over 40 slides that go from easy to more challenging. There's no prep and no marking! These Number talks are designed to display digitally for your whole class or small Guided Math groups. They can also be printed out if desired.
This set is designed to be used at your own pace, giving you flexibility. You may find that one slide is enough for one day, or you may have time to go through 2 or 3, depending how many students have strategies to share.

✔ build instant recognition of how many (subitizing)
✔ count by 2’s, 3’s, 4’s,5’s and 10’s
✔ develop computational fluency
✔ notice patterns in number composition
✔ find multiple ways of seeing a pattern
