This worksheet has students choosing their poet author and poem and analyzing.
This worksheet is a desired note taking sheet that will assist students in a culmination towards writing a formal essay.
Student tips to assist students in their note taking:
Poets often use various methods to express specific ideas, concepts or images. In other words, the use literary elements to extend the meaning of the poem.
Do you see any of the following elements in the poem? If yes, where? Then, explore why the poet uses these elements?
In addition: Poets make choices about everything.
- They choose rhythms and where to change the rhythms.
- They choose sounds.
- They choose to make comparisons.
- They choose line lengths and line breaks.
- Keeping the concept of choice in mind, explore what choices the poet makes in terms of structure, sound, and figurative language.
